As I have been reporting for the last few weeks 3guys1movie sponsored 5 zombies and 1 actual runner for this event. T-Shirts were given to participants and we had an all around good time. I would like to thank Erin Anderson, Sarah Murray, Kevin Murray, Sean Daly, and Jen Daly for being a part of this and representing our website.
On the drive we passed a liquor store with a curious name, I wanted to get a picture but could not so I found one on the interwebs. I was shocked that they can get away with this butt I guess the name probably brings in customers, or not.
We arrived at Gallows Hill Park at about 5:30 and we were shown around the park and the course the runners would run. We were strategically placed along the running path and eagerly waited the beginning of the race. We had a few people ask to take photos with us and spent about a half an hour chatting with locals and finding the best possible hiding spots. We also discussed strategies and took plenty of photos. The course was certainly more difficult than expected as there were certain parts with rough terrain, we were hoping to use this to our advantage.
Sadly many of the runners took this seriously and were tricksy little hobbits, they tucked in their flags and would hold them as they were running passed you. I found this offensive and totally against the spirit of the race. I understand you want to survive but don’t cheat to do it.
and the lone runner from our group
Sean was running too fast to get a photo of him in action but I stole this one from his facebook account.
The race lasted about an hour and a half so we decided to go out and get some pizza and beer to wash down the brains we had just eaten. We headed into downtown Salem, Ma. which is a hopping little town with plenty of spots and shockingly busy for a Saturday night. We ate @ Flying Saucer which had a good deal of quality beers and definitely quality pizza, you can check out their facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/FlyingSaucerPizzaCompany.
Once again I would like to thank all the participants and look forward to doing more events like this in the future.
