Opening this weekend:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2
My son Jonas who will be turning 9 in a few weeks really wants to see this one so I am sure we will fork over $100 bucks for a family trip to the cinema. I liked the first one and thought it was well done.
This film is getting strong reviews and when Howard is at the helm it usually turns out pretty good. Not a fan of racing movies but this one is based on a true story and I am a sucker for real life drama. It wont be as good as Talladega Nights but still interested.
This is the film we are heading out to see this weekend and from what I heard, the trailer is being promoted on porn websites, pretty interesting marketing plan. Joseph Gordon Levitt directs, writes and stars in this one and we are all fans of JGL and I am looking forward to checking this one out in the theater. Seems like one of those that may have audiences squirming in their seats. Scar Jo looks pretty hot in this one also and there is a Tony Danza spotting.
Rom-com about a woman trying to get engaged before her younger sister gets married. I have no interest in seeing this film but to each his/her own.
We are What We Are
Horror/Suspense film that looks pretty promising. Rain and a crazy family usually makes for entertaining horror film.
other films of interest opening this week: Metallica: Through the Never, As I Lay Dying, Inequality for All, The Citizen, Therese, Out in the Dark, Dark Touch, Muscle Shoals, On the Job, Morning, and The Wicker Man Final Cut. A lot of films being released this week.
Leading the Box Office: Prisoners takes over the top spot this week grossing 20.8 million in its’ opening week followed by last weeks leader Insidious 2 (13.8 million) and The Family at 7 million.
Content we created: We are still waiting on our Kick Ass 2 review that I thought would be posted over the weekend but we are trying to make it really awesome so we took some more time getting it together. that being said there was plenty of content we did post. As promised Joe Sikes reviewed Weekend at Bernie’s in our ” It Came From the Bargain Bin segment and our Horror writer Matt Kenary took on the Sam Raimi film Drag me to Hell. Sean Daly did a fine piece on Jack Nicholson’s work in Five Easy Pieces and actually defended his thought that this was his defining role. Sammy the Blade did a great write up on The Wrestler and Scott spotlighted Elvis Presley in an Actor Spotlight. This content can be accessed by simply clicking on the images below. Also feel free to revisit last weeks New on DVD post which discussed Iron Man 3 and Room 237.
Upcoming Events: I do believe that we will see our Kick Ass 2 full 3 guys review over the weekend and I can only imagine what Joe has for us this weekend from the Bargain Bin. I will be busy chasing runners down at the Zombie 5k in Salem, MA. this weekend with 3guys writer Sean Daly, his wife, Jen Daly, Sarah and Mev Murray, and my wife and I. T Shirts came in and I will try to take as many photos as I can, it is difficult to eat brains and take photos at the same time. We are heading out to see Don Jon this weekend and will hopefully have a full 3guys review up by the end of next week.
