in Tremendous Trailer Trash Tuesday

Ahoy mateys, I spied some sweet looking trailers with my spy glass this morning.  Take thee a look below if ye dare!

Rock Of Ages, Tom Cruise leads and ensemble cast as Stacee Jaxx a 1980′s big hair rock and roll god.  Two young people chase follow their rock and roll dreams to the the Sunset Strip.  This film was a successful Broadway musical so expect lots of classic 80′s rock, spandex, big hair and acid washed jeans in the numerous dance numbers.  Other members of the cast include Bryan Cranston, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, and Russell Brand, that’s a lot of star power.   Look for Cruise with some long hair and platform shoes to rock a theater near you on June 15th.

Total Recall, A remake of the popular Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone Sci Fi film from 1990.  This version stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston and Jessica Biel.   This film looks to me to be more action and less comedy, and to follow the Phillip K. Dick short story a bit more closely.  The action scenes look very impressive in this trailer.  Look forward to taking a trip to beautiful Mars on August 3rd.

Safety Not Guaranteed, An indie time travel film, starring Kristen Bell and some actors I never heard of, written and directed by people who I don’t know.  However, I like the looks of the trailer.  It could be that I am just a sucker for these sort of quirky indie films.  Prepare to hop in a time machine or perhaps not on June 8th, at a theater near you.  Or perhaps  more likely, just at an art house theater and you have to wait for the DVD.

Rise of The Guardians,  A DreamWorks animated film starring Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, Jude Law and Alec Baldwin, based on a series of children’s books by William Joyce.  The fairy tale characters of childhood, protect the world with their magical powers they gain from the belief of children.  They fight to protect the world from a new evil threat.  Sort of looks to me like Santa Claus meets the Watchmen.   Arriving just in time for family Thanksgiving movie going, this film opens on November 21st.

FIRST!!!! I think… :p Yay~

Anywaysssss…Rock of Ages looks like it’s probably going to be one of those hit-or-miss deals. Lots of “star power” usually equals disaster more often than not though, I feel like. I don’t think I’ve seen very many good musicals-turned-film. The two I can think of immediately off the top of my head that were my favorites were Grease and Bye, Bye Birdie.

And Rise of the Guardians I do want to see. I wish more decent animations would come out. I do still have an inner child to feed, and it’s super duper hungry. XD

Rae I am not a big fan of musicals well, maybe except for The Sound of Music and the wonderfully terrible Hudson Hawk. So I am not sure that Rock of Ages is going to be that wonderful.

I am fairly certain I will end up seeing the Rise of the Guardians with my little man.

Total Recall looks like something right up my alley.

Nice job on grabbing first :-0

Oh wow yeah. How could I forget about Sound of Music?? Lol. That one’s super classic. I wonder…maybe it’s because they’re trying to put too much flair in these adaptations now?

Haha and maybe it’s because I’m a girl, but I think it’s so cute when I hear dads call their son their “little man.” XDD

Idk about Total Recall or Safety Not Guaranteed. Not particularly intrigued by them. Of course, if I see someone make a good enough case for them, I may just change my mind. Haha.

I am looking forward to Safety Not Guaranteed actually. Like someone said to me, it kinda has a “Eternal Sunshine on a Spotless Mind” kind of feel to it. I liked the trailer.

Not looking forward to Total Recall though. I’m calling it “Total Rental” for the time being. I mean, Jessica Biel??

Do you think Biel’s association with Timberlake has poisoned her limited acting ability? Maybe this will be her bust out role :-)

I don’t really like that rehash trailer for the upcoming Total Recall remake. I like the original far to much to enjoy seeing it in an updated version.

Joel my wife had the same response, she would not even look at the trailer. She is a big fan of the original and makes me watch it about every other month.

Loving the look of all of these except I’m not fully convinced by Rock of Ages yet.

Pete maybe you just need some spandex pants and eye makeup to get into it. ;-)

Rock of Ages just looks fun to watch! I’m already getting an AquaNet high. I don’t know if I’ll rush to see this movie, but maybe on a slow night, I would go see it.

I grew up with Total Recall, so I have high expectations with this movie. This is still my favorite scene. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V17duGlHEYY I wonder if the Governator is going to make a cameo, never know, right?

Safety Not Guaranteed made me laugh. I don’t know why, but I’m seriously excited for this movie. I guess because I love Aubrey Plaza. I find her dead eyes and sarcastic remarks brilliant, just like her character in Parks and Recreation. Well, if it is a bad movie, I’ll eat my words. You can remind me of this moment and say, “I told ya so.” I give you permission. LOL

Jen that is a great scene lol, my favorite quote is “give dees people airrrrr” I like to say that in my best Arnold voice

Your the second person to point out that I should know who Aubrey Plaza is.

She’s awesome. Her acting skills seems to be one sided, but I have a feeling in Safety Not Guaranteed, we will see more of an acting range from her.

Parks and Rec is on instatnt Netflix….watch it. LOL

Kristen Bell? Don’t you mean Aubrey Plaza? I like the look of Safety no Guaranteed – a bit indie with some “cool” actors.

Total Recall – looks fine, but isn’t it just exactly the same as the original? I’m looking forward to it, but … just not overly thrilled.

Jaina are you telling me that I have to start watching Parks and Recreation? I had to look her up on IMDB ;-)
