Tremendous Trailer Trash Tuesday October 2nd 2013

PulpTrailerTrash

October, really?  how did that happen?  My kid made me drag out and set up the Halloween decorations and now he has been dressed like Anakin Skywalker for the last two days.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug:   A new trailer that was put out a few days ago.  I know lots of haters out there for various reasons but this trailer looks pretty awesome to me.  Looking forward to three solid hours of immersion in Middle Earth come December 13th.  Probably a good idea to watch this film at the most comfortable theater you can find considering the duration.

Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas:  Sweet Baby Jesus this looks craptastic.  Releases on December 13th.

The Last Days on Mars:  Liev Schreiber, Elias Koteas and Olivia Williams star in this film about our first manned space exploration of Mars.  After conducting some experiments a group of astronauts is preparing to return to Earth when they discover they are not alone.  This actually looks to be some pretty cool sci-fi horror and has been getting some decent reviews since its initial UK theatrical release.  This film opens up in the US on December 6th.

Big Sur: Kate Bosworth, Jean-Marc Barr and Josh Lucas star in this film adaptation of the Kerouac novel Big Sur.  Right off the the bat I got to say this looks much better than the recent adaptation of On The Road.   Kerouac finds himself suddenly famous after the publication of On The Road heads off to his friends cabin in Big Sur California to try and get his head together.  I’m still waiting for my favorite Kerouac novel Dharma Bums to be made into a film.  However, this film will have to attempt to provide my Kerouac fix  on November 7th.

So there we have it our trailer selections for the week.  Which of these do you plan on checking out when they hit theaters.  Also is anyone not going to see Gravity this weekend?

Lucille Ball

Anyone care to guess what actress this is?

Hey Adam and guys: I’ve only heard of the Alaska serial killer movie but as Adam pointed out having Cage in it may drive people away. Given the gravity of the American economy maybe people will save the bucks. BTW I give Don Jon 3/5 & Austenland 4/5.

    • Adam October 1, 2013, 11:33 am

Mark just watched Don Jon last night and thought it was pretty good. A pretty decent directorial debut for JGL and Tony Danza needs to get some more film roles.

I really want to see Gravity this weekend, and yet I hear that you MUST see it in 3D at the Omni, so I think I’ll wait for that.

So that means I’ll be seeing Enough Said instead, and I’m ok with that…

What is this Omni that you speak of? Is that some sort of Imax theater?

      • Andrew October 1, 2013, 1:32 pm

Whoops…yes, here in Dallas/Fort Worth our only IMAX is located at the Omni, in the museum. I just need to wait for it to get there, which will probably be end of the month.

Can’t wait to see The Hobbit 2, the latest trailer is awesome!!

That’s Lucille Ball! I recognize her mouth right away.

    • Adam October 3, 2013, 6:34 pm

I can’t wait to check that out either Ruth. Ball was a real looker back in the day.

  • Maurice Mitchell October 2, 2013, 4:28 am

Tyler Perry has such rabid fans he could film a garbage can with a dress on it called “Medeia Goes to the Trash” and people would still go see it. Gravity will rock.

    • Adam October 3, 2013, 6:35 pm

Only a few more days till Gravity. I know he has some dedicated fans but I just don’t get it. Those jokes in that trailer are terrible.

    Hey, Lucy!
I love anything Liev Schreiber is in. Wonder if Mars will be better than Gravity?

    • Adam October 3, 2013, 6:36 pm

      Hey Cindy!

Schreiber is a a bad ass. I don’t know if Mars will be better than Gravity but it sure looks like fun.

  • Colin Biggs October 2, 2013, 10:07 pm

Very much looking forward to Gravity in XD tomorrow.

Awesome shout-out to Lucille Ball, btw.

    • Adam October 3, 2013, 6:37 pm

Let me know what you think of it Colin I don’t think we are going till later in the weekend.

  • Joe Sikes October 3, 2013, 5:24 pm

    Hey Adam,
I don’t know who these haters are (probably Hobbit snobs I’m guessing) but The Desolation of Smaug looks awesome and I can’t imagine that it will disappoint. As for Madea, well you said it, Craptastic! we can only hope that Madea goes on strike…….forever! It looks like The Last Days on Mars could be a great sci fi thriller. Unfortunately, when I attempted to watch the Big Sur trailer it said that the trailer was removed by the user. Either way I’m sure that I’ll be checking it out. The book Big Sur is one of my favorites and it seems that it could make for an interesting film. I just watched On the Road a few weeks ago, and although I didn’t think it was bad, it was still disappointing if you compare it to the book, but on the other hand aren’t most films. Oh, and Lucille Ball was one hotsy totsy when she wasn’t whining to Ricky:) Have a great week my friend.

  • Adam October 3, 2013, 6:38 pm

Right on JoJo Smaug looks awesome!

Thanks for the heads up on that trailer I will post another one. Sadly that was the one I found that did not have any ads. :-(

I agree she was hot back in the day.
