Tremendous Trailer Trash Tuesday March 26th….Riddick Teaser Trailer

Foggy and overcast again here in So Cal.  Looks like June gloom already and its only the end of March.  Good thing I found these trailers to keep me warm.  Four good ones for you to check out including a Riddick teaser and a new World War Z trailer.

Riddick:  I was a big fan of Pitch Black and to a bit lesser extent The Chronicles of Riddick.  I don’t have much info with regards to the plot and this is the first time I have seen any footage.  This footage was actually first spotted on Vin Diesel’s Facebook page which you can check out right here.    Riddick is set for a general release on September 16th.

World War Z:  Well this trailer is certainly a vast improvement from the first one that they released.  While the zombies still seem a bit to CGI heavy for my taste at least we get to see some cool action scenes in this second look.   Still have my fingers crossed that this film lives up to the hype but at this point who knows.  We can all find out when World War Z shambles into theaters on June 21st.  You can check out a few more videos at the official World War Z movie site, located right here.

The Colony: This is actually the first that I heard about this movie which is sort of strange as the film will be in general release shortly.  Bill Paxton and Lawrence Fishburne are the leaders of a group of survivors in a post apocalyptic world.  Things go from bad to worse when they respond to distress signal from other survivors.  I am not sure if they are getting attacked by zombies, vampires or hipsters but something bad is going on.  While I read some rumors that this will be released sooner rather than later I could not find any official release date.

A bit of cussing in this next one so if you are easily offended you may want to take a pass.

Kick Ass 2:  Wow this second trailer looks great lots of the action and comedy that made the first installment and the comics so much fun.  I have to be honest I did not know that was Jim Carrey until another blogger pointed it out to me.   Another thing that immediately came to mind was that it looks like Mortez and Taylor-Johnson have been spending some serious time at the gym.  For more info head over here to the Kick Ass 2  movie site.   Get ready for parents to be horrified when Kick Ass 2 busts into a theater near you on August 16th.

Four pretty solid mainstream trailers to check out this week.  I am working on some more obscure trailers for next week edition, if that is more your bag.  Till then don’t take any wooden nickels.

world War Z is shaping up to look very good indeed.

Kevin I hope it turns out all right, the late inning re-shoots and re-writes have me a bit nervous.

Really pumped for the new Riddick. I’m a HUGE fan of the first two movies, and I’ve been eagerly anticipating this one for some time.

Not nearly as excited for Kick-Ass 2, however. I dunno, but something about the trailer just makes it look like they’re taking the series in a direction that I’m not too sure about. It looks like they’re taking it a bit too seriously this time around. ‘Course, I could be way off on that, so we’ll see, but my expectations have lowered for that one.

Chris, those first two Riddick films are highly underrated Sci-fi in my opinion. As far as Kick Ass goes, the comic gets a bit darker in tone as the story progresses I am not sure how faithful they are going to stick with the original story arc.

The second World War Z trailer improved from the first one but I’m still worried about the film, particularly that Damon Lindelof was involved.

    • Adam March 26, 2013, 4:34 pm

Ckckred, agreed it looks better but could it really have looked any worse? ;-)

  • Armand DC March 26, 2013, 5:30 pm

World War Z is going I Am Legend on us.

    • Adam March 26, 2013, 10:08 pm

Well at least no Will Smith yet ;-), but yes I am fearful that it may be a huge disappointment.

  • Chris March 26, 2013, 7:20 pm

I’m really looking forward to Kick Ass 2. I’m just worried Carrey’s going to cheapen it. Hope it’s as gory and hardcore as the first.

    • Adam March 26, 2013, 10:09 pm

Chris it could be a good sign that I did not recognize him in the trailer.

  • ruth March 26, 2013, 7:43 pm

I’ve never seen any of the The Chronicles of Riddick movies, but I’m intrigued to see the first one as Judi Dench’s in it! :D

    World War Zzzzzzzz…

    • Adam March 26, 2013, 10:11 pm

You know Ruth I had totally forgotten she was in that. I have not seen that second one in years. Pitch Black is good scary sic-fi for sure.

Getting busier at work and social after, blogging lagging a bit. Catch up, yes to World War Z for sure, absolute no to Kiss Ass 2. I don’t get who kA2 or JA1 for that matter were marketing to. On one hand a TV Batmanesque cartoon type heroes and villains. Then graphic violence of torture and children battery. Pass

Mark how dare you have a social life ;-)

  • Tim The Film Guy March 27, 2013, 12:26 pm

I have so many trailers to review :D

Done Despicable me 2, The Wolverine is coming out tonight, White House Down tomorrow and Reddick for Friday :D

    • Tim The Film Guy March 27, 2013, 12:27 pm

Oh and World War Z trailer 2 :D

      • Adam March 27, 2013, 1:20 pm

Sounds like you are going to busy lol, I wish that Riddick one was a full trailer.

  • Tracy March 28, 2013, 11:20 am

I loved, loved, loved, Pitch Black and even thought Chronicles was ok so I’m super excited for the new Riddick. Plus…Katee Sackoff is in it and she’s pretty bad ass.

Also looking forward to Kick-Ass 2. I just hope it can capture lightning in a bottle twice.

World War Z I’m so against I can’t even describe my feelings for it. I’m extremely biased and I know this. I’ve read the book, and I loved the book. This doesn’t look ANYTHING like the book at all. I really think the source material would have been best served by following the format of the book and presented as a series with episodes broken up by chapters. There are so many different characters in the book and the main character is actually just someone who is always in the background. Ugh. I’ll give it a shot, but for me it’s not looking good.

    • Adam March 30, 2013, 10:36 am

Tracy I agree that Pitch Black was better than Chronicles that at times for me anyway got a little goofy.

I look forward to checking out your World War Z review as you are the only blogger that I know has read the novel.
