Tremendous Trailer Trash Tuesday March 12th 2013

O boy  looks like we are finally getting some more cool looking trailers worth mentioning.  It will not be long till we find ourselves in the middle of summer blockbuster season.  Thank goodness because this early winter has been the absolute worst as far as films released at theaters.  I almost don’t want to go and give them my money, as I don’t want to support or give the studios any inclination that such films are in any way acceptable.

The Hangover Part III:  Who would have guessed that Zach Galifianakis would have a voice like an angel?  By this point folks know which of two categories they are going to fall into with regards to these hangover films.  Either they find the humor crass and inappropriate or they find it hilarious.  My boy was actually walked in the room while I was reviewing trailers and caught the tail end of this one.  He thought the giraffe scene was hilarious and forced me to replay the trailer for him.  Expect a big turnout for this film when it crashes into theaters on May 24th.  Just don’t expect to bring your kids to this one as it will certainly be an adult only affair.

Star Trek Into Darkness:  Sorry about that ad I could not locate a trailer without it.  I thought they did a decent job with the first film in this reboot.  My main complaint was that it did not really capture some of the more cerebral elements of the original series and films.  Still not sure if that issue will be alleviated in this second installment.  However, the trailer certainly looks action packed.  Star Trek Into Darkness beams into theaters on May 17th.

Iron Man 3:  Wow!  I really like the look of this trailer, comic fanboy overload.  As if I was not already excited enough about Kingsley playing the Mandarin, we get a good look at multiple folks in Iron Man suits.  Will this film be the largest blockbuster of the year?  Why do villains have it in for Tony Stark’s buildings?  The answers to all these questions and more may be revealed on May 3rd.

Knights of Badassdom:  Peter Dinklage in armor, at first I thought this was a Game of Thrones episode.  Even better it is a horror comedy also starring HBO fan favorite Ryan Kwanten (True Blood).  A bunch of LARP players some of them unwilling, accidentally summon demons while high on mushrooms.  I think I may have actually thought up a similar film premise in my college dorm about fifteen  years ago.  Me thinks this film could either be terrible or highly amusing.  Sadly no release date is available at this time.  In fact I read they were still looking for a distributor.  So if any of our loyal readers have some spare change laying around you could help bring this to a theater near you.

The Bling Ring:  Emma Watson stars in this film directed by Sofia Coppola.  Based on true events, this film tells the tale of a bunch of LA kids who go on a robbing spree to support their party party lifestyle.  They utilize social networks to track stars whereabouts and plan their heists.  Coppola has achieved greatness behind the lens in the past with Lost In Translation so I always hold out hope that she will reach that level of filmmaking again.  Will that be the case with The Bling Ring?  I am not sure and it looks like I will not find out for a while as this film is set for an initial release in France this June.

So there we have it 3 Early summer blockbusters, a film looking for a distributer and a film by Sofia Coppola that we can’t watch for a while unless we take a vacation to France.  Which of these films are you most looking forward to?

I hated the second Hangover, but this trailer looks like they’re at least trying to not make the EXACT same movie a third time, so we’ll see. And Iron Man looks better with each new trailer. So I suppose I’m looking forward to most of the movies here. Some good stuff coming soon.

Also, that shirt is amazing. B)

    • Adam March 12, 2013, 9:01 am

Chris, I was not much of a fan of that 2nd Hangover film either. A few good bits where you could catch a glimpse of the magic from the first film, but overall pretty meh. I hope the 3rd one is awesome but who knows.

I wish I could score one of those BFM shirts in an adult size.

  • Teddy Casimir March 11, 2013, 11:47 pm

Only looking forward to The Bling Ring amongst this list. I hope both Coppola and Watson deliver.

Your son’s sporting a Bill Murray shirt? I don’t know whether you picked it or he chose it himself. Either way, there is a genius in this family.

    • Adam March 12, 2013, 9:04 am

Teddy, That Bling Ring has me intrigued as well.

Yeah I introduced little man to Bill Murray via Caddyshack. However, to be honest if they had a shirt with a dancing gopher he may have liked that better.

What a good gimmick they got with the Chive T shirts, only selling a certain amount and forcing people to wait like they are calling ticketron because Def Leopard is at the Centrum.

    • Adam March 12, 2013, 9:18 am

Scott when you gonna get on designing our high quality limited edition shirts? ;-)

Even better The Chive have people send them all their content. Genius!

      • scottydynamite March 12, 2013, 9:43 am

When we decide to put it into the budget let me know.

        • Adam March 12, 2013, 11:37 am

isn’t our budget zero lol I am still waiting on business cards so I can win a free coffee at my local coffee shop.

  • Fogs' Movie Reviews March 12, 2013, 11:14 am

    Thats a hell of a shirt! :D

Not sure how I feel about the new Trek movie right now. Just looks like a lot of noise to me… Knights of Badassdom looks awesome though! LOL :D

  • Adam March 12, 2013, 11:36 am

Fogs I have been trying to score a man sized version of that shirt for months they usually sell out in minutes.

What is the over under on the number of lens flares that Abrams will stick in that Star Trek film?

  • ckckred March 12, 2013, 7:13 pm

Blind Ring could be interesting but Sofia Coppola is a pretty hit or miss director. I’m hoping for the best.

Also, that Bill Murray shirt is pretty cool.

I was going to write something about part of your entry first but…OMG! O-M-G!! Your son is ADORABLE!!!! And…o_O I actually think he’s going to grow up to be quite the ladykiller. Oh dear. I shall keep my future offspring away~~ :p Kidding, only kidding. (About the last part, anyway. I was totally serious about everything else.)

I’ve got advanced tickets to Star Trek, and I can already tell you that I’m probably going to watch that one in theaters multiple times. In fact, that is an extremely likely scenario.

Iron Man I am also pumped for, but I don’t think I’ll drool over it nearly as much as Star Trek. I do love sarcastic Robert Downing Jr. though.

Anyway, hope you didn’t get in trouble for exposing Jr. to a snippet of Hangover III. :p

    • Adam March 13, 2013, 11:11 am

Rae it’s a good thing jr takes after his mom.

So are you a Trekkie or just excited about this film?

Nah that trailer was pretty PG ;-)

      • Rae March 15, 2013, 9:10 am

LOL. I do see the resemblance between him and momma.

As for the film, I’m excited for both reasons. Plus Chris Pine as Kirk. *Fans self* Hahahahaha.

Other colors and sizes are available.

Okay, I’m pretty sure I’m done commenting on this entry now, lmao. I shake my fist at the lack of an edit comment option.

    • Adam March 13, 2013, 11:12 am

hmmm you know Scott and I were just talking about that, wondering if the chive had some deal with BFM to make those shirts apparently not.

      • Rae March 15, 2013, 9:08 am

Well, now you know you can. :p

  • Tim The Film Guy March 13, 2013, 6:22 am

    Nice Murray shirt :D

    • Adam March 13, 2013, 11:12 am

Thanks Tim I will let Jr. know that you liked it.

  • Kim @ Tranquil Dreams March 13, 2013, 6:26 am

    That shirt is totally AWESOME!
I practically fell asleep in the first Hangover so I won’t be around for the 3rd. Apparently guys get this more. I have to save up for May…Ironman 3 and Star Trek looks totally amazing!
I have yet to see Emma Watson in Perks of Being a Wallflower but Bling Ring looks like there’s some elements of fun. I’d probably be down for it but more after it gets released on Blu-ray

    • Adam March 13, 2013, 11:14 am

Welcome to the dark side Kim ;-)

Agreed March is going to be expensive, I am going to have to sneak in my drinks and food to afford all these movie tickets.

I have not seen Perks of Being a Wallflower either but I have heard many good things.

thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi :-)

  • The Focused Filmographer March 13, 2013, 10:05 am

    you got me.

a trailer I haven’t seen. Bling Ring. Nice find there! :)

and sweet shirt for your boy. Thanks for the roundup

    • Adam March 13, 2013, 11:16 am

That Bling Ring does look intriguing, When Coppola brings her A game she can direct the hell out of a film so I hope this turns out well.

I am a bit jealous of his shirt as I have been shut out on the Chive in my attempts to get one in my size.

  • Tyson Carter March 13, 2013, 1:33 pm

Emma Watson looks hot in the still for that trailer!!!! Hangover 3 looks great, then again I preferred the sequel to the first one so Im obviously easily pleased!

    • Adam March 13, 2013, 1:38 pm

Tyson you are the first person I have ever heard say that.

      • Adam March 13, 2013, 1:39 pm

        About the Hangover of course.
