Tremendous Trailer Trash Tuesday: June 18th

So everyone in my house has had the plague for over a week.  At this point I am just waiting to see who turns into a zombie first.  Good times at least I have had plenty of time to lay on the couch and watch movies.  Well when I am not in some sort of illness or medication induced lapse of lucidity anyway.  Got a few good looking trailers for folks to check out this week.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug:  Yeah I know your mad they made the Hobbit in two three films.  At this point might as well learn to deal with it.  We got dwarves of course and they meet some elves and hang out with Gandalf in a spooky forest.  Most important thing about this trailer is that we and Bilbo get our first look at Smaug.  He looks a bit more fearsome than the animated cartoon version from my youth.  Grab your sword or bow or whatever is handy and head to the theater on December 13th to check out this film.

Only God Forgives:    A new trailer for what may end up being the years best film that fails to get an oscar nomination.  This film won Best Film at the Sydney Film Festival the other day so there is that.  I really don’t think they need to put out any more trailers to convince me to go and watch this when it arrives in the U.S. on July 19th.

Hard Ticket To Hawaii: Just checking to make sure you are paying attention with this one.  I actually first became aware of this film the other day when I saw a scene involving a frisbee and razor blades.  They don’t make them like this anymore.  Has anyone actually seen this film in it’s entirety?

The Wolf Of Wall Street: Scorsese directs DiCaprio in this film about securities fraud and excess on Wall Street.  Many folks are hoping that this film will finally get Leo an Oscar.  I would be more excited if this film caused folks to storm Wall Street, start some show trials and public executions for corporate malfeasance.

So three trailer for three good looking films and one trailer that looks like the epitome of 80’s cheese ball action.  Which of these films look interesting to you?  Will Leo every win an Oscar?

Jack Nicholson

I don’t think that is a cigarette and I don’t think those are beats by Dre.

I don’t know how they keep doing it, but somehow the new OGF trailer still makes me even more eager to see that movie!

That new Scorsese movie also looks interesting, though it’s too early to tell with Leo. Everybody wanted to say that Gatsby was gonna be his Oscar role, but, no. And even if he is great, as he was in Django, doesn’t mean he’ll get it. So, who knows, really?

Chris, I can’t wait to watch Only God Forgives, I hope it gets a full general release.

  • Tracy June 18, 2013, 3:50 pm

“This ain’t no hula….it’s a Hard Ticket to Hawaii” Wow…..that’s some serious classic quality right there. If you’re really into seeing it, it looks like the whole thing is on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDBG3ysbU8M

Hmmm that ability to stream YouTube via my xbox might finally come in handy

I’m pumped about The Wolf on Wall Street. As excited as I am about Only God Forgives, it hasn’t received very positive reviews. I’m trying to lower my expectations.

Ckckred, I am thinking some of Only God Forgives’s negative reaction might be from folks only familiar with Refn from watching Drive. I am certainly going to be checking out The Wolf of Wall Street.

    Hey Adam,
Looks like some must sees this week……..especially Hard Ticket to Hawaii:) That has to be in a Bargain Bin somewhere.

    • Adam June 19, 2013, 7:29 am

Joe if you want to review that Tracy said it is streaming on Youtube.

      • Joe June 19, 2013, 4:46 pm

    • Adam June 18, 2013, 5:57 pm

Joe I have that in a much larger size soot me an email if you want me to send it to you

      • Joe June 19, 2013, 4:47 pm

The size used in this segment is actually perfect. Thank you, though.

The Wolf on Wall Street. It’s time, Leo. Finally.

    • Adam June 19, 2013, 7:31 am

Cindy, the thing in his favor at this point is I have not seen too many performances so far where I said to myself that looks like a best actor performance.

  • Chris June 19, 2013, 5:48 am

I’m with you Adam, Only God Forgives can hold off on the trailers. I think everyone is convinced, at least the ones that know how epic it will be.

    • Adam June 19, 2013, 7:29 am

Chris I think at this point they are sort of preaching to the choir.

      • Chris June 19, 2013, 8:46 am

Exactly. Oh, and you’re a Hipster tomorrow, just a heads up. :)

        • Adam June 19, 2013, 9:19 am

Woo hoo I’m gonna be internets famous!!!!

  • Fogs' Movie Reviews June 19, 2013, 9:12 am

LOL. That “The Wolf Of Wall Street” trailer has a real Oliver Stone vibe to it. Kind of whacked out looking for a Scorsese film. 8O

    • Adam June 19, 2013, 9:42 am

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  • Kim June 19, 2013, 1:26 pm

Leo is awesome nowadays! I look forward to everything he does. Plus I was a business student, this stuff always peaks my interest! :)

    • Adam June 19, 2013, 5:51 pm

Kim did you even look forward to J. Edgar ;-)

So when are you gonna go to the dark side and become a hedge fund manager?

      • Kim @ Tranquil Dreams June 19, 2013, 6:06 pm

I haven`t seen J.Edgar yet..I missed that one completely :P I only knew about it when my friend went to buy it.
And I won`t be crossing over to the dark side…I studied in it, not totally into working in it..haha! Different field of business ;) I`ll let Leo do the hard work!

        • Adam June 19, 2013, 7:15 pm

trust me you don’t want to watch that.

  • Kim @ Tranquil Dreams June 19, 2013, 7:46 pm

I’ll trust you :) Staying far away
