Back from my one week vacation from blogging. To be honest I was barely online for about a week and tried to not even get near my desktop. As an added bonus my neighbors were out of town and gave me the keys to there place. Needless to say Jr. and I got a lot of pool time in. Hooray neighbors! Let’s hop right back into the swing of things with a look at some new trailers.
Dealin’ with Idiots: Jeff Garlin, J.B. Smooth, Jamie Gertz, and Steve Agee star in this film about a man who is amazed with the crazy parents of his sons youth baseball team. He decides to learn more about these people in the hopes of using them as inspiration for his next film. Those of you familiar with Garlin’s work on Curb Your Enthusiasm will have a pretty good idea of the sort of dry humor this film will feature. While I am fan of the show I am not 100% sure how this will translate to a feature length film. This film goes up against Pacific Rim next weekend on July 12th.
Afternoon Delight: Kathryn Hahn, Juno Temple and Josh Randor, star in this film about a woman who gets a lap dance from a stripper and then decides to save the girl. The stripper soon moves into the family home as the “nanny”. Thankfully nothing like this has ever happened when I have dragged the misses into a strip club. This film looks to me like it may actually be a sort of mature comedy drama worth checking out at some point. This film debuted at Sundance in January and is set for a limited release on August 23rd.
The Boxtrolls: from the animation studio that brought you Paranorman and Coraline comes a new film about an orphan boy raised by a boxtrolls. The boy attempts to save his friends from an evil exterminator. The film is based on a children’s book by author Alan Snow. I was a big fan of the last two films to come out of this studio so I look forward to checking out this film as well. Get ready to see boxtrolls everywhere when this film gets a general release on September 26th 2014.
Thanks for Sharing: Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Ruffalo and Pink star in this film about a group of people who suffer from sex addiction. Not sure if this film is going to be that funny as it does star Paltrow. However, I imagine it will be a bit more upbeat than the last film I watched about sexual addiction, Shame. That film made me want to take a shower. The Hulk and Pepper Potts get hot and dirty when this film hits theaters on September 20th.
So that is our collection of trailers for you to check out this week. Out of these trailers I think I am most interested in watching The Boxtrolls but that is over a year away. Do any of these films inspire you to check them out at the theater, or will you be waiting till they arrive on streaming?
