Ok I think I can finish up my list of Fall films that I want to check out, with this weeks installment but no promises.
Oldboy: I loved the original and this remake by director Spike Lee looks very similar. The film stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Samuel L. Jackson. Will this film improve upon the original or will it just be rehashing what we have seen before. One can only assume this remake will rekindle in the original film and that might end up being the most positive thing about this film. Head on out after you finish Thanksgiving dinner and watch Oldboy on November 27th.
Captain Phillips: Trailer number two for this film about piracy by skinnies attacking cargo ships. These unarmed vessels are easy prey for pirates, but they can’t handle Tom Hanks and his Boston accent. Pretty sure once the Navy Seals show up that things end badly for the skinnies. Still looks like a good dramatic thriller even if we already know how things probably go down. This film sails into a theater near you on October 11th.
Out of the Furnace: Rodney Blaze Jr. (Casey Affleck) disappears and the police don’t seem to be able to find him. That is when Russell Blaze (Christian Bale) goes looking to extract some back woods justice. Maybe it is just the Pearl Jam Music, but this trailer looks pretty awesome to me. The film also stars Forest Whitaker, Zoe Saldana, Woody Harrelson, Sam Shepard and Willem Dafoe. Damn that is some cast of stars and people who have never been in my kitchen. I am going to be looking forward to checking out this film when it hits theaters on December 6th.
Lone Survivor: This film is based on a true story of Seal team attempting to capture or kill a notorious Taliban leader in Afghanistan. Mark Wahlberg,Ben Foster, Eric Bana and Taylor Kitsch star in this action drama. While the trailer looks pretty intense, I am fearful that the curse of Kitsch might ruin this film. Dude has been hollywood poison at the box office. Lets find out if this film can reverse the curse on January 10th 2014.
So looks like I failed in talking about all the films I was interested in this fall. I still have not shown, or talked about the trailers for Riddick, Don Jon, Nebraska or Inside LLewyn Davis. So that being the case I will have plenty of trailers on deck for next week. So do any of these trailers tickle your fancy? If I had to pick only one to watch it would be Into the Furnace.
