The Ratings

We use a slightly different rating system at 3Guys1movie.com all of our films are based on a scale of 0 -3 guys. Along the way we decided that sometimes a movie falls in middle somewhere so we created the half-guys. You can see a full explanation of our rating system below.

No Guys:

– Reserved for the only the most atrocious of films. The 0 guys rating means this is a movie no one should have to sit through. Two hours of your life that you will never get back.

One Guy:

– Still a terrible film but at least watchable without having to go lie down afterwards

One and Half Guys

– A below average to just about average film. This is the kind of movie you will walk out of the theater and forget what you saw within 15 minutes, but you won’t feel completely cheated.

Two Guys

– Now we are getting into the range of the average to slightly above average film. This will be a movie that we enjoyed. We might recommend it, but we aren’t going to rave about it at the water cooler either.

 Two and Half Guys

– Now we are getting close to being damn good. This movie is near perfect but there’s something that just made it fall short.

 Three Guys

– Rarely given, this is the apex of 3 guy-dom. This is a movie that you must see.

Alright, backing you up on this site Griff. Constructive suggestion: Give a three column table that shows 3 movies that you all rated 1, 2 & 3 stars. Don’t worry about the halves. I do this for a living.

Thanks for the advice Dom, I just noticed that you were the one that posted this lol

  • DNICE July 28, 2011, 5:21 am

You have 4 guys, not 3.

    • rrclimber July 28, 2011, 6:10 am

One of the “guys” had to bow out and was replaced. I left his profile up there since his name was on many of our reviews. This seems to be causing some confusion sooo…I removed him. 3 Guys only now!

DNICE, thank you for the suggestion. The Rating system has been a subject that has generated some debate with us. We definitely open to constructive criticism as we try and make the best site possible. @DNICE

As an aside I was not on board when this rating system was designed. I feel it inhibits my journalistic freedom and artistic expression. :-)

If you want to give a rating higher than 3 Guys, do you draw a small penis on the little man icons?

    • Allgriff October 16, 2011, 9:38 am

Funny you should mention that as I had previously suggested that my Icon have giant junk so as to differentiate from the other two guys.

Neat system. I’ll have to subscribe here. :)

Welcome Cinemaniac and thanks for checking us out. The rating system was an area of much discussion and continues to be addressed sometimes. Glad that you like it and it is great to have you here @ 3guys1movie.com . We will look forward to your input and check out your site. Thanks again.

Wow, this is an awesome rating system. It’s fairly simple, yet creative and unique, which is something any reviewer really strives for. At least I do.

  • Cappie April 16, 2013, 4:38 pm

    Hahaha genius rating system.

What’s up colleagues, how is all, and what you would like to say concerning this article, in my view its truly awesome in favor of me.

  • Taj January 9, 2016, 2:00 pm

There’s certainly a great deal to learn about this subject.
I love all of the points you’ve made.
