in New on DVD

5 new releases this week and considering this is the second time writing this I will be brief, wordpress swallowed my last entry never to be found again.

First up we have

Wreck-it Ralph

Wreck-it Ralph

Caught this film with my kids last weekend and enjoyed it.  The homage to video games of the past was by far the best thing about the film.

Next we have

Red Dawn

Red Dawn

Nooooooooooooo.  I hate when they remake movies that I loved as a kid, they usually do a terrible job and prove that there was no reason to remake it. Wolverines!!!!

then we have

The Intouchables

The Intouchables

This looks like the sleeper of the week. A handicap billionaire nearing the end befriends an ex-con.  Based on a true story and has been well received.

next up we have

Playing for Keeps

Playing for Keeps

With a cast like Gerard Butler, Jessica Beil, and Uma Thurman you figure you might get a decent film, well this does not seem to be the case.

and finally we have

The Bay

The Bay

A mocumentary about a mysterious plague that has killed thousands of plants and birds off the coast of Maryland along with over 700 people, what could it be?  Well you will have to watch it to find out. Shaky Cam means me no watchy.

That’s it that’s all

lol, I’m in that vast minority who actually enjoyed the new Red Dawn movie. :P Also, Wreck-It Ralph was really good, but the best part was definitely the old school video game homages. All in all though, nothing really worth going out of your way to pick up at the store this week, from what I can see.

Those are fighting words Chris, you have seen the original, right? If so which one was better?

Wreck it Ralph was excellent bit I don’t care much for the others. I am a bit curious about Barry Levinson’s shaky cam movie though.

I liked Wreck it Ralph, I like the concept of the Levinson film but shaky cam drives me up a wall.

Picked up my copy of Wreck It Ralph last night. Cant wait to watch it. I’ve been eagerly waiting to see it since I missed catching it in theaters.

As for the others, not all that interested, though The Bay catches my attention a bit. I may Netflix that one at some point.

You will certainly enjoy Wreck it Ralph, I will avoid The Bay unless I am totally bored one day and it streaming on Netflix

Picked up Wreck It Ralph last night as well. Loved it in the cinema and robbed as Best Animated feature. The Blu-ray collectors set includes Oscar Animated Short winner Paper man amongst its special features. The Untouchables is a good rental.

Some good releases. I want to see The Bay and The Intouchables (maybe can wait for netflix). Wreck it is a fun movie for older school video game people.

Wreck-It Ralph is a very fun movie. It made my Top 10 of 2012. The Intouchables is also very good. It just missed being in my Top 10.
