New on DVD (July 16th, 2013)

New On DVD

4 new releases to discuss today with a couple of quality films, well quality meaning not terrible.

First up we have

42

42

This was in the theater and on DVD pretty quick, cashing in on the all-star break and the boys of summer getting into full swing. I heard really good things about this film but have yet to see it and I like baseball movies.  I have seen the Jackie Robinson Story starring Jackie Robinson but not this film.  Hope to watch it soon and with 2 boys who play baseball hoping they will watch it with me.

next we have

Evil Dead

Evil Dead

This redesign of the cult classic of the same name got mixed reviews across the board.  Let me tell you there was more blood in this film than any I have seen in sometime.  We did a full review of the film a while back which you can check out @http://3guys1movie.com/evil-dead-2013/.

then we have

Bullet to the Head

Bullet to the Head

Now this film was released on June 10th so I have no idea why it is back on the list but I digress.  Stallone stars in this action flick based on a graphic novel, speaking of graphic novels when does the sequel to Sin City come out I thought it was due this September.

and finally we have

Solomon Kane

Solomon Kane

I have heard nothing about this film and as I read the release I do not recall ever hearing this film name even in passing, seems to be some beheading and limbs being cut off sort of film that takes place in the 16th century.  This may be a watch on one of those nights that I feel like watching someone kill a plethora of people.

That’s it that’s all

Of all the movies listed here the ones I am excited to see is 42 and Bullet to the Head. Did not know that Bullet.. was based on a comic book. Sounds awesome.

I would not mind checking out Bullet to the Head when it is streaming for free.

    Yet another mediocre release week.

of these films I have seen “Bullet to the Head”, and all there is to say that it is not the worst film that I have seen in a long time (that is Schwarzenegger’s “Stand”). Literally could have been worse, but not a lot … http://thomas4cinema.com/2013/06/11/bullet-to-the-head-walter-hill-2013/

Tis a good week for DVDs. I haven’t seen the last one on the list, but I really enjoyed 42, Evil Dead, and Bullet to the Head. All are worth a watch in my opinion.
