5 new releases to discuss today

First up we have

Taken 2

I did enjoy Taken the original not to the point where I would have made another one but enough to watch it in full.  Liam Neeson has taken on a lot of action roles over the past 10 years and he seems to hold his own.  This is not a film I feel I need to see but I may catch it at some point.

then we have

The Possession

This film is based on a true story but I am sure it is loosely based.  Starring Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan this horror film seems a little bit on the thin side.

next up we have

The Intouchables

Comedy about friendship and trust that is getting decent reviews and decent feedback.  This is a french film and has been compared to the Bucket List.  So if you liked the Bucket List you may enjoy this film.

then we have

Won’t Back Down

This film is about 2 mothers who will stop at nothing to change their children’s failing inner city school.  Looks like a decent drama but one that could probably be missed.  It does star Maggie Gyllenhaal who I like, but I like her in quirky roles and this one seems less than quirky.

and last but not least

To Rome With Love

Directed by Woody Allen this film certainly has a stacked cast including Alec Baldwin, Penelope Cruz, Woody Allen, Jesse Eisenberg and Roberto Benigni.  If you enjoy Woody Allen’s style of comedy and romance I am sure you will like this one.

That’s it that’s all

I can see myself checking out Taken 2 when its streaming or at the Red Box. Sort of a middle of the road know what your gonna get action flick but sometimes that is just what I am in the mood for.

I do not think there is a movie ” I have to see” in this group but there are few decent ones that look watchable,i.e Taken 2

I can’t believe “Taken 2″ is already out on DVD. I feel like it was just yesterday I was telling my friends I wanted to watch this movie. Man, I have no concept of time whatsoever. :) I’m not as excited to see “Taken 2″, but I am excited to see “To Rome with Love”. I was lucky to visit Rome for one day. I miss it. I figured this is the cheapest way for me to revisit it again.

Woody Allen films are pretty polarizing, I tend to enjoy his sense of humor but there are many that cannot stand it. Thanks for the comment.

To Rome is heavy on the quirky but has some genuine laugh out loud make you spit your drink jokes with Woody Allen’s character. Its no Midnight in Paris rather a farce and a couple odd tales. Rent it.

Worth a rental I think, I have yet to see Midnight in Paris and that is on my list of things to watch.

I do not know anyone who has seen Taken 2 yet. Most of these look like good rental type movies to me. The one I would like to see the most would be The Intouchables.

I enjoy Woody Allen’s films from time to time (Midnight in Paris, Scoop and Matchpoint being some of my faves), but To Rome With Love was a big disappoint. If you watch it, watch it only for Penelope.

Glad to see The Intouchables comes out. I forgot abt that one and still need to see it. Thanks for the reminder.

Gonna make it a point to see The Intouchables. Those French have such big hearts and great senses of humor. Looks like the other films I can do without……..maybe check out the Allen flick but it looks a lot like all of his recent love stories.
