New on DVD (December 16th, 2013)

New On DVD

Happy to be back posting on the blog, life got in the way as I am in the process of moving my family to a new town and I just finished my Masters Program last week.  This week we have 5 new releases and many that we have done a full review on and many that were pretty quickly out of theaters and into our homes faster than normal, I believe people are trying to cash in on Christmas DvD purchases.

First up we have

This was a pretty average sci-fi film with some definite strong points and some obvious weak ones, we did a full review that you can check out @ http://3guys1movie.com/elysium/

next we have

The Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger

This was one of those films that I was eager to see but in hindsight glad I did not.  Now that is not to say that I have seen it to base my opinion but from what I have read and heard this film was a mess.  The curiosity may get me though and I may watch this over Christmas break.

and then we have

Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2

We all thought this film was decent, much better than most critics.  You can read our full review @ http://3guys1movie.com/kick-ass-2/

next up is

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

I must admit I did see the first one and there are a few scenes that are just too much for an adult to take in; Peirce Brosnan as a centaur is quite laughable.  That being said my son has read the series and we will be checking this film out soon.

and finally we have

There was a lot of great reviews of this film out there and Mark did a nice write up on the film you can read @ http://3guys1movie.com/prisoners/ . I am eager to watch this one after Mark’s strong support.

That’s it that’s all

Yeah, Prisoners was great. And I had the vaguest of interests in The Lone Ranger after it made Quintin Tarantino’s list earlier this year, but I’m almost certainly gonna just flat out skip it entirely.

I am curious to see the Lone Ranger, it may be a train wreck but that adds to my curiosity.

I’m looking forward to finally seeing Prisoners.

I agree, I want to see that one the most of all.

I would say Lone Ranger was more enjoyable to me then Elysium was and I was really looking forward to Elysium (big fan of District 9). The Lone Ranger hate is similar to John Carter.. they are getting roasted more for being bombs instead of people just enjoying them for what they are…popcorn films.
