First set is Riddles of the Ring which only contains Bilbo and Gollum and is sort of lame for ten bucks.
Escape from Mirkwood Spiders, is a cool looking set with a fairly low price. I really dig the giant spiders but they are about half the size of Shelob from the LOTR series. If you are looking for giant spiders you might want to check that out.
The Goblin King Battle looks awesome. I especially dig that it has 8 minifigures including that giant Goblin King. However, at hundred bones this is going to be pretty expensive for Santa.
Barrel Escape might be the best deal in the series so far. You get 5 minifigures including Bilbo along with a cool look set of Lego bricks to build with. This was Jr’s favorite set and he insisted we build something similar out of his thousands of bricks that I keep stepping on.
Attack of the Wargs, I like those fire pits and it has Wargs. Those wargs are real fearsome looking but for fifty clams I wish they had thrown in a few more of them.
An Unexpected Gathering, is my favorite in the series. You get six minfigures including Bilbo and Gandalf. However the best part is that sweet hobbit house. The interior is very detailed and you can place the figures inside via the back side. So if anyone is wondering what to get me for Christmas this would be sweet.
So that is it for Lego Hobbit sets so far. I would expect more sets to be released in the future and more sets to accompany each release in the trilogy. I don’t know about you but I still plan on seeing the Hobbit on opening weekend despite some less than spectacular reviews so far. December 14th will be here in just a few days, will you be picking up any of these sets before or after seeing the film?

There is something about See’s Candies and Christmas that always goes together. i can’t count the times I’ve gotten those Carmel lollipops in my stockings.
If I had to choose just one lego set…it would have to be the Unexpected Gathering. I agree…that house is pretty sweet. Plus, it’s mostly all the main characters. The price is a tad high, but pretty cheap in terms of being a little kid again.
I can’t believe how much Legos are, man. When I was small they couldn’t have been more than $10-$20 for a huge set.
Colin you should see the $399.00 Death Star that my boy thinks Santa should bring him.
I always have to have a peek at these whenever I’m near my LEGO store. Love the Goblin King one. Just huge! Which is the one thing putting me off buying – where on earth would I put them!?
Jaina there is always room for more Lego bricks.
