hump day have your say

So I was looking around the interwebs the other day reading film blogs.  I know who ever does that right?  Anyhow, I found myself over at Ryan’s RhinosHorror where I read some info about a new Universal Monster project.  Apparently this film project involves the teaming up on classic monsters to fight against a larger evil facing the world.  Since this article failed to mention if Abbott and Costello were also attached to the project I decided to do some looking around for more info on the project.

Ahmet Zappa, yes Frank Zappa’s son is currently working on a project that involves the teaming up of various Universal Monsters.  This project would involve the classic monsters forming a sort of monster avengers team.  I am thinking sort of like a non-lame League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.  You may recall Ahmet’s most recent project that he wrote and produced The Odd Life of Timothy Green.  Actually my most vivid memory of that film was the awesome clip that some cool parents posted of their kids in tears about the ending of the film.  Not sure if this is just a working title but so far it is named Monster X.

I would be remiss if I failed to mention this cool site I stumbled upon while looking for more information on this topic.  Universal Monster Army is a site devoted to all things Universal Monster related.  The site has a huge forum and tons of cool monster related links and items for sale.  I know I am rambling a bit and getting off topic but it’s worth a look if you are a monster fan.

O yeah, today’s have your say:

Who do you think should be cast in the various monster roles for this film?  Feel free to just select a few or fill every role in the film.  For instance I think Ron Perlman would make an excellent Frankenstein Monster, Zach Galifianakis would kill it as the Wolf Man and Nick Cage would be a great Dracula.  What say you all?

I do not want this to get done, I fear they will demolish my childhod memories of dipping toast in coffee and watching these classic with my Aunt Klaire on channel 38 or channel 56.

I dont eat breakfast, just fear this will be poorly done. I would want Clooney as Frankenstein, DiCaprio as Creature from the Black Lagoon, Kristen Stewart as the Bride of Frankenstein, Michael Stipe as the Mummy. So far that is all I got for now

Scott Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I like Kristen Stewart as the Bride of Frankenstein, of course that means she will end up blowing who ever they get to direct this film. Therefore, I hope Kevin Smith directs.

If Smith directs it I will have an open mind

Nick Cage as Dracula! Yes!

Teddy I could totally see him pulling that off. I wonder if this is going to be sort of tongue in cheek or if they are going to make this scary as hell?

Nick Cage would be a good monster as IMO he his horrible in most action parts he does. How about Zachary Quinto as younger Dr. Frankenstein? As we saw in Heroes, Margin Call and now Star Trek he has a range in physically and characterization.

That is a good call Mark, I can see Quinto playing a mad scientist.
