3 Guys I Movie 2013 Oscar Predictions

3 Guys 1 Movie 2013 Oscar Predictions

Best Actor:

Griff:

Who I want to win: Bradley Cooper – I thought he was great in SLP and this was easily his best performance to date. Daniel Day Lewis was great but I hated the movie.

Who will win: Daniel Day Lewis – If I was forced to bet on only one category this would be it.

Adam:

Who I want to win:  Bradley Cooper, who knew he had it in him?

Who will win: Daniel Day Lewis is going to win this award in the least surprising win of the night.

Scotty:

Who I want to win: Daniel Day-Lewis, he had the best performance

Who will win: Daniel Day-Lewis

Best Actress

Griff:

Who I want to win: This is the strongest category in my opinion. There were some great performances here but I think Jessica Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty was my favorite.

Who will win: I really think this one will go to Jennifer Lawrence

Adam:

Who I want to win: Jennifer Lawrence was great in this film.  Any performance than can keep me interested in a romcom deserves to win.

Who will win:  I think Jennifer Lawrence will take home the gold.

Scotty:

Who I want to win: Jessica Chastain

Who will win: Jennifer Lawrence because she is the “it” girl right now.

Best Supporting Actor:

Griff:

Who I want to win: I would love to see De Niro get this. If for nothing else than to celebrate his best performance in years.

Who will win: Christoph Waltz and Quentin Tarrintino = Oscar Gold

Adam:

Who I want to win:  I thought John Goodman and Alan Arkin were both great in Argo so  lets say Alan Arkin.

Who will win: I see a gold statue in Christoph Waltz hand come oscar night.  Which would also be a great selection.

Scotty:

Who I want to win: Christoph Waltz was awesome in Django.

Who will win: Christoph Waltz

Best Supporting Actress:

Griff:

Who I want to win: This one is a little tougher for me. I actually haven’t seen a few of these films. I guess I am going with Jacki Weaver in SLP. I thought she was perfect in that role.

Who will win: I say they give this one to Anne Hathaway. The academy seems like they are dying to give her an oscar.

Adam:

Who I want to win: I would love to see Jacki Weaver win for her performance as the mom in Silver Linings Playbook.

Who will win: I am fairly certain that Anne Hathaway will be taking home a statue and sadly not for her performance in TDKR.

Scotty:

Who I want to win: Jacki Weaver, she deserves the win here for her work in SLP.

Who will win: Anne Hathaway because she sang.

Best Director

Griff:

Who I want to win: I think that I, like the rest of America think this should be Ben Affleck’s award. The fact that he is not even nominated is disgraceful and it cheapens the whole night.

Who will win: I am praying they give it to David O’ Russell and not Spielberg. Please lets not let Spielberg think that continuing to make this contrived boring drivel is ok.

Adam:

Who I want to win: My broham from Boston Ben Affleck should win this award even though he got the shaft from the Oscar nominating committee.

Who will win: Please not Spielberg, anyone but Spielberg.

Scotty:

Who I want to win:  Benh Zeitlin for Beasts of the Southern Wild, this script seemed to be the toughest to work with and it was well done and imaginative. Never mind working with a child must be difficult and rewarding for a director.

Who will win:  Probably Spielberg and that would be disappointing.

Best Picture

Griff:

Who I want to win: Moonrise Kingdom was the best movie of the year in my opinion. From the list of actual nominees though, wouldn’t it be great to see Django take home the oscar?

Who will win: I think Argo should take this one. Affleck should get up on the stage and give the academy the finger.

Adam:

Who I want to win: Django Unchained for the win.

Who will win: I think Argo will win best picture to add insult to injury to Ben Affleck.

Scotty:

Who I want to win:  I hope Django Unchained wins it.

Who will win:  Argo

I’d love Django to win but it obviously won’t so I say I’d rather have Argo than Lincoln. :) But if you ask me Lincoln will win.

    • Adam February 22, 2013, 5:46 pm

      Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo but your probably right

  • sati February 22, 2013, 3:09 pm

Haha yeah Anne will win because she sang :) They do love musicals. I too wish she would win for much better, at least for me, performance in TDKR.

    • Adam February 22, 2013, 5:47 pm

Sati maybe we can just pretend that she wins for that ;-)

  • Josh February 22, 2013, 10:25 pm

Seeing Django win BP would be awesome. But yeah, I seriously doubt that’s going to happen. I don’t see the Academy ever giving Tarantino those kinda accolades. They seem way too uptight to give his work the big prize. They’d rather stick with boring Oscar bait.

That being said, maybe they’ll at least give him another Best Original Screenplay Oscar? Probably not. I imagine that one might go to Moonrise Kingdom, though I didn’t care for that movie really. Then again, wouldn’t be surprised to see Zero Dark Thirty get that, see the Academy gets hard for political pieces (which is why I’m also assuming Argo will win BP).

    • Adam February 23, 2013, 8:28 am

There might be a better chance of the head of the Academy apologizing to Ben Affleck than Django winning best picture, but we can always dream.

Oh, Oscars! I have a love/hate relationship with Hollywood’s biggest night. I have to watch and I, usually, have to gripe about some of selections. This year there has been some glaring snubs–especially Moonrise Kingdom (in several categories)–but, alas! :D

I would not be disappointed if Argo ends up being the big surprise of the night–but I am rooting for Django–all the way! Which I know will only upset me throughout the evening…since they were denied many nominations.

Actor: DDL–yeah…he’s going to win and I agree.
Actress: Jennifer Lawrence–well deserved. But I think Quvenzhané Wallis is a force of nature! Guess I should be pleased she was nominated.
SActor: Duh! Christoph Waltz (or the snubbed Leonardo)
SActress: Anne is going to win…for the wrong role (indeed). *eye roll* Of the nominees…I think Helen Hunt deserves it.
Director: The 4 most deserving are not there–Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino and Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow. So, yeah…I guess, I will say Russell will win.

    So…let’s see what happens.

    Later guys! :D

    • Adam February 23, 2013, 8:30 am

Wallis was real impressive but her winning would be a huge upset.

I would agree that the four best directors of the year did not get nominated.

  • Mark February 23, 2013, 4:32 am

How funny. I thought I was the only one who would be disappointed with Spielberg. I believe he will win, but I would love to see Ang Lee take the prize. He was working with a first time actor, had to deal with a combination of CGI and live sets, and brought an “unfilmable” novel to the screen. Life of Pi’s success had so much to do with his work.

    • scottydynamite February 23, 2013, 6:00 am

Life of Pi will take down Best Cinematography but thats it, in my opinion.

    • Adam February 23, 2013, 8:31 am

Mark, all three of us have been down on Spielberg for sometime. Which is sort of strange as we all write our reviews separately. I would not mind Ang winning best director.

  • Pete February 23, 2013, 9:24 am

Zero Dark Thirty for the best pic win (just because I’ll make a killing off a bet I made!)

    • Adam February 23, 2013, 9:56 am

well in that case Zero Dark Thirty it is. How much cash we talking about ???? lol

  • Castor February 23, 2013, 10:15 am

I think Spielberg already thinks it’s more than ok to continue to making this contrived boring drivel since the movie did well at the box office and has multiple Oscar nomination… :(

  • Adam February 23, 2013, 12:03 pm

Castor, Lincoln was nearly as bad as last years War Horse. The only difference I saw was DDL’s performance… but has he ever had a bad performance? Is that really something that has anything to do with Spielberg as a director?

    • scottydynamite February 23, 2013, 1:38 pm

I will continue to disagree with you about Lincoln, the film was good. That being said to make a bad movie about Lincoln with DDL, it is almost impossible and I give none of the credit to Speilberg.

      • Adam February 23, 2013, 2:26 pm

I suppose after sitting through Les Mis and Anna Karenina Lincoln must have looked like Pulp Fiction.

  • Chris February 24, 2013, 4:57 am

Damn, some major SLP love going on in here, lol. I personally wouldn’t be too offended by a Bradley Cooper win, but not so sure about anything else, heh.
Also really hoping Argo doesn’t win the big one, though it’s definitely the front runner. I’ll gladly take Lincoln, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, or Zero Dark Thirty before Argo.

  • Adam February 25, 2013, 8:48 am

Hey look we were right with every one of our picks. Well that is if you consider please anyone but Spielberg as a pick for best Director. ;-)
